Prototype Gear Examples
Quick Turn Aluminum Tooling
Performance Gear can typically create aluminum tooling in less than three weeks. Tooling can be used to run limited production up to 30,000 units per year.

Machined Internal Gears
Here an internal gear has been machined into the housing of a plantet gear system.

Stereolithography
New resins have made stereolithography a great choice for complex geometry and accurate dimensions. Although not nearly as stong as plastic, the stereolithography process is perfect for low load, or functional prototypes.

Hobbed Plastic Gears
Here you see a long delrin gear arbor that has been hobbed. The arbor is then cut to length, and inside detail are machined. This is applicable to straight gears, and even helical gears with low helix angles. |
